super light for packpackers

This bag is super light for the backpackers counting ounces! Weights 1.7 ounces on my scale. Wide bottom is very stable to stand up while you wait for your food to rehydrate with boiling water. Rubber band is a nice feature to keep the lid closed. Very nice!

Using for breastmilk bags, fits ice pack well

I was looking for a flat, insulated bag that could fit my flat ice packs. Used for flat breastmilk bags. This keeps it cold until I use them and fits nicely into my backpack.

Makes all the difference!

Put the meal in this pouch and pour in boiling water. Will stay MUCH hotter longer and 'cook' so much better. I find that using this pouch and letting meals sit for 15 min is perfect. They aren't cold at the end, and WAY less crunchy. Win!!

Awesome

Used for first time this last weekend. It worked excellent. The bighorn pouches have a ziploc style closure, this just has a flap that folds over. After using, my only complaint is thw flap not being tight. Im going to fix this by throwing a couple clothes pins in there so next time after i put the meal in it i can close the flap tighter and ideally retain more heat. If that works, this is a homerun. I should note i poured the boiling water into the meal, immediately put it in this bag, folded the flap, and set it on my chair. Outside temp was 30-31 degrees F. After 13 minutes, it was so hot i actually had to let it cool down before i could start eating.

Handy to have

If youre using freeze-dried foods that you pour boiling water into, this bag is a good idea. Keeps the food up to temp as its reconstituting, even in cold weather, and also makes the pouch easier to hold without burning your hands.Easily fits Mountain House and Alpine Aire 2-serving meal pouches.Light, easy to use, and seems durable. Ive used it on two trips so far, and wish I had gotten something like this years ago.

Sodium is a standard feature of all freeze-dried meals - and for good reason. When you’re hiking, climbing, or backpacking, your body loses sodium through sweat and needs it replenished to maintain hydration, muscle function, and energy.

Sports nutrition research recommends 1,000–2,000 mg sodium after endurance activity, depending on body weight, sweat rate, and activity level. Our meals are designed with this in mind, ranging from 610 mg per serving in our Mushroom Pasta to 1,160 mg in Butter Chicken. These levels are designed to support electrolyte balance and recovery when participating in strenuous activities in the backcountry.

The short answer is: quality costs more to do right.

All of our meals are sourced and produced entirely in the USA - from ingredients to packaging. We buy premium meat and vegetables directly from small, local farms, and we hand-prepare our sauces in small batches instead of relying on industrial processes. Each pouch is hand-filled to protect the large, intact cuts of meat and delicate freeze-dried components, so your meal rehydrates into real food with real texture, not mush.

We’re also a small, family-owned business without outside investors subsidizing our costs. That means we rely solely on our customers’ support to keep doing what we do best: creating better backcountry food.

We believe that what you put in your body matters. Our price reflects a commitment to quality, sustainability, and supporting a healthier food ecosystem. While not everyone can prioritize premium food, we think it’s worth asking why some meals cost only a few dollars - and what compromises are being made to get them there.
